10 Lessons I Learned From Freshman Year

It's a whirlwind of a year that has a lot of lessons to teach.

Going into college is scary. You never know what to expect. Who are your friends for the next four years going to be? How are you going to figure out everything all on your own? We've all been there, and we've all learned lessons along the way. Here's 10 lessons I learned from freshman year of college.

1. 7:30 a.m. classes are real, and you will lose sleep because of them.

We've all heard the rumors about 7:30 a.m. classes. They do exist and they will be extremely difficult to get up for. If you're confident enough to take a 7:30 you better be confident enough to say your bedtime is 9:00 p.m. sharp.

2. Getting sleep is a privilege that you should take advantage of.

Your mom is not here to walk you through every step of the way anymore. We have to get ourselves up for class, stay up late to do our homework, and somehow manage to do extra activities out of school. It's hard and when the opportunity arises to get sleep, please take it.

3. Laundry does not clean itself.

You have to do your own laundry. You have to physically pick up all of those pieces of clothing you just had to wear and put them in the laundry. Freshman year you have to take a trip all the way downstairs to put them in the washer and dryer.

4. Just because you have dining courts at your fingertips does not mean you should eat everything in them.

The "freshman 15" is real my friends. I know all the food is great but sometimes you have to hold yourself back.

5. You are going to meet the people you will be friends with for the rest of your life.

Lifelong friends don't come around that often. Freshman year you're going to meet them, and you'l know they're going to be around for awhile.

6. Skipping class is a no go.

It may seem tempting to take a class or two off to go do something else, but in the end it is not going to help you. Half the classes you miss are the ones they take attendance points in anyway. Better safe than sorry.

7. Going to the gym is a great idea.

With all of the busy schedules going on, you should always find time to head to the gym for a workout. It's important to stay healthy.

8. THIS IS IMPORTANT. Call your mom.

She misses you and you miss her. She likes to hear what you're doing and who you're doing it with. She's a mom and she wants to know her little girl/boy is doing ok. Give her a call every once in awhile. It will go a long way.

9. Buy snow boots.

Winter is a crazy time on campus. I fell probably seven times my freshman year because I was not prepared. Be prepared.

10. Take part in all the school activities that you can.

One day you're going to look back at all the time you've spent in school and wonder where it went. Make sure when you look back that there's some great memories of your university and fellow students.

Tamatoa created a liar filled with shiny things simply for the purpose of tricking fish to enter and become his food. He too experiences a lesson in how easy it is to be tricked by shiny things when Moana distracts him by covering herself in glowing algae so Maui can grab his hook.

Epic Creation Myths: Norse Origins Unveiled

What happened in the beginning, and how the heavens were set in motion.

The Norse Creation Myth

Now, I have the everlasting joy of explaining the Norse creation myth. To be honest, it can be a bit kooky, so talking about it is always fun. The entire cosmos is included in this creation myth, not just the earth but the sun and the moon as well. This will be a short retelling, a summary of the creation myth, somewhat like I did with Hermod's ride to Hel.
