These princesses taught me how to dream big.

What I Learned from Disney Princesses Growing Up
moviepilot

Like many girls growing up, I loved (and still do!) watching Disney movies, especially those with princesses. They each taught me life lessons and morals that I still find applicable in my life today. In addition, the songs sung in each movie were stuck in my head for hours! Here are some of the life lessons I learned:

1. CINDERELLA: The Value of Hard Work.

Cinderella taught me the value of hard work and dedication. Though her life was full of hardship and toil, she never lost her sense of hope. She always maintained a humble and caring nature, even when her stepmother and stepsisters were being their villainous selves. She learned to “have courage and be kind”, and that a little patience goes a long way.

2. SNOW WHITE : A Kind Heart is Always Appreciated.

From Snow White I learned to be generous and kindhearted towards others. When she met the seven dwarves she instantly became a motherly figure to them, helping out whenever and wherever she could. To repay the favor, the dwarves gave her a place to stay, and became the family that she never had.

3. ARIEL: A Sense of Adventure is Key.

Ariel, the land-loving mermaid, taught me that an adventurous life is a full one. To have adventure in one’s life is to fully embrace the world around you. Ariel did just that, adapting when she needed to most. She learned that even without her voice, she was unique and special. She truly was “part of their world.”

4. MULAN: Show Respect for Family.

I learned that honoring my family was a part of showing them respect, just like Mulan did. Although I don’t have to go to war to protect my family’s honor, I can honor and show respect for them by standing up for what I believe in.

5. BELLE: The Importance of an Open Heart.

Belle is my favorite Disney princess because I have a lot in common with her. Not only does she love to read, but she has also taught me to look beyond the outer shell, and to seek the pearl on the inside. Everyone has their struggles, I know I have mine; our struggles are what make us who we are, we should embrace them, just like Belle did with her Beast.

6. JASMINE: Never be afraid to go after what you want.

I learned to dream freely from Jasmine, who had never given up on what she wanted: freedom and independence. Even though she was a captive in her own home, she never gave up on seeing the outside world. She also has a wonderful sense of self-worth, something that I value highly.

I hope that little girls can still see the value of Disney princesses and that they still have influence on their lives today. I may be an adult, but I'm still a Disney kid at heart!

Tamatoa created a liar filled with shiny things simply for the purpose of tricking fish to enter and become his food. He too experiences a lesson in how easy it is to be tricked by shiny things when Moana distracts him by covering herself in glowing algae so Maui can grab his hook.

Epic Creation Myths: Norse Origins Unveiled

What happened in the beginning, and how the heavens were set in motion.

The Norse Creation Myth

Now, I have the everlasting joy of explaining the Norse creation myth. To be honest, it can be a bit kooky, so talking about it is always fun. The entire cosmos is included in this creation myth, not just the earth but the sun and the moon as well. This will be a short retelling, a summary of the creation myth, somewhat like I did with Hermod's ride to Hel.
